Robotics - Students will spend the semester learning how to build and program robots, using the Legos Mindstorm EV3 kit. In teams of 3 to 4, students will be using the Lego Mindstorm robot set to create functional mindstorm tanks, which will be going head to head in a sumo arena!
Video Game Design–Students will learn how to use Scratch programming website to your very own video games, stories, and animations.
STEM Challengers– Ever thought about what it takes to make a tower, bridge, or car work. Learn about engineering, design, and creativity as you compete every week in building different the structures of our future.
Animation – Like the artists who used computers to make the animated film Toy Story in 1995. Animation is the process of giving the illusion of movement to drawings, models, or inanimate objects. Science Explorers– Ever thought about why the sun is so hot? How batteries work? Why the world is round? Come explore the world of science with hands-on experiments that will expand your mind.
Stats to Action in Basketball– love sports? In this enrichment students will have the opportunity to determine which athlete of all the ones they compared during the semester is truly the best player and students will also get an opportunity to practice the skills that they looked at in the gym.
Improvising Magic! – Students will explore the art of improvisation: making up stories on the spot!! Through theater games and exercises, students will act in scenes and create their own characters for a final performance full of comedy, creativity, and audience engagement.
Spoken Word– Spoken Word is an activity that empowers youth to share a topic of individual choice (music, speech, comedy, drama, etc) in front of an audience. Students will gain confidence and strengthen skills by learning tips and techniques of presenting. There's nothing to it, but to do it! :D)
Illustrate your own story – In this enrichment students will illustrate and write their own children's book. Learning about different styles of illustration, participants will get to learn about how to author your own book. At the end we will read our stories to kids in neighboring schools.
Film Critics - In this Enrichment, students will have the opportunity to read engaging literature and explore the transition from books to film. We will read scenes from select novels and compare to scenes from the film versions. We will act out our favorite scenes using our own interpretations, and write and film movie reviews. Our reading and film focus will be The BFG and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Step Your Heart Out - Students will take part in an intensive Step program that promotes team building, exercise, and learning routines. Music will be incorporated with step moves. Students will have the opportunity to enter into competitions and compete against students from other schools.
Visual Arts– This program will teach students the basic fundamentals of creating art in every aspect via set design, portraits, stage makeup, fashion creations, and more!
Acting & Singing Club - (Featuring the musical, Hamilton!)
From songs like 'My Shot' from Hamilton to "How Far I'll Go' from Moana, we will sing songs together to create a final cabaret performance! We will also learn acting skills and techniques of being a professional actor!
Photography– Photos will never be the same! With our photography, learn all the techniques to create exciting and strong photos(without any filters...this isn't snapchat class). Through in class and outside photo shoots and editing, we will create a fun and exciting club experience.
